Pittington Primary School

The Power Savers at Pittington Primary School have been hard at work with their OASES Energy Officer to help their school save energy and educate everyone about why this is important.

The Power Savers had a lot of prior knowledge and were excited to get started on making changes in their school. They began by conducting an energy audit around their school to discover how much energy was being wasted. They found that a lot of their classrooms left lights and computers on and even the staff room had work to do with kettles and microwaves being left on! Following this the Power Savers went round the entire school placing red and green stickers on switches – green means you can turn the switch off and red means it has to stay on. They also created energy saving posters to be put up around school to remind everyone to save energy and help save the planet.

The Power Savers

The Power Savers group then conducted a whole school assembly to let everyone know about the changes in school and to look out for the stickers and posters. They hope to get everyone on board to help reduce their wastage and save lots of energy! The Power Savers also had lots of other ideas on sustainable changes they could make to help combat climate change so they will be working with their OASES Energy Officer to implement these in 2025.
