Bishop Ian Ramsey Primary School
During Switch-Off Fortnight an OASES Energy Officer went in to Bishop Ian Ramsey Primary to conduct a whole morning of energy saving sessions.
The morning began with a whole school assembly where the children learned about the difference between non-renewable and renewable energy sources and how fossil fuels are contributing to the growing problem of climate change. We then discussed how saving energy and taking action together, such as switching off lights after you leave a room, can help tackle this problem.
Following the assembly the OASES Energy Officer worked with the Year 6 class to delve into these ideas deeper. We looked at how climate change is affecting the world globally and the disproportionate impacts it is having in countries around the world. The Year 6 class then looked into their school’s carbon footprint to see how much of an impact their school is having and in response created energy saving posters to put up around school, reminding everyone to save energy.
