Organise a Switch Off

Organise a Switch Off

This resource pack contains a guide, information sheets and resources to help you organise a switch off. A switch off involves switching off as many electrical devices and appliances as possible for an hour, a day or a time of your choice! It encourages behavioural changes and can lead to both energy and financial savings.

This resource pack includes:

  • How to organise a switch off: a guide to what a switch off is and how to organise one in your school
  • What should we switch off?: a guide to what you can and can’t switch off in your school
  • Switch off assembly PowerPoint: a PowerPoint to use in an assembly on the day of the switch off. It explores what uses electricity in school and why you are having a switch off.
  • Switch off day lesson ideas: ideas for lessons to do during the switch off, which don’t use electricity.
  • Electricity comparison help sheet: after the switch off you can look at a graph of your electricity usage for the week and see how your electricity usage during the switch off compares to other days. It is a great graph to see the electricity savings you have made! It can be shared with the whole school and local community.
